‘Friends’ is an American television sitcom, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, that aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, it had ten seasons. With a cast starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, the show revolves around six friends in their 20s and 30s living in Manhattan, New York City. The sitcom depicts the comedic, romantic adventures and career issues of these six friends. These six characters also have many dates and serious relationships issues - such as Monica with Richard Burke and Ross with Emily Waltham - which later turned out well at the end.
However, Ross and Rachel's intermittent relationship is the most often-recurring storyline during the ten seasons of the show as they repeatedly date and break up, with Ross briefly married to Emily and having a child with Rachel. ‘Friends’ is a prominent drama series and different from the regular sitcoms as all the six actors were equally prominent, resulting in the series being lauded as "the first true 'ensemble' show."
The cast didn’t stop being friends on the screen - they also made efforts to keep the ensemble format by not allowing one member to dominate. The cast of friends even -entered themselves in the same acting categories for awards, opted for collective salary negotiations, and asked to appear together on magazine cover photos in the first season. The cast members became best friends off-screen, so much so that recurring guest star Tom Selleck reported that he sometimes felt left out.
1. Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green.
Then: As a fashion enthusiast and Monica Geller's best friend from childhood, Rachel first moved in with Monica in season one after nearly marrying Barry Farber. Rachel and Ross Geller were later involved in an on-again-off-again relationship throughout the series. Also later in the series, Rachel Green became so much more than the shopping-obsessed runaway bride we met in season 1, as she moved from her first job as a waitress at the coffee house Central Perk, to later become an assistant buyer at Bloomingdale's in season three, and then a buyer at Ralph Lauren in season five. Much to everyone’s delight Ross and Rachel confessed their love for each other, and Rachel gave up a job in Paris to be with him in the show’s series finale.
Now: Jennifer Aniston has not only become a Golden Globe winner but has also won a place in our hearts by her roles in memorable films such as ‘Horrible Bosses’ and other dramatic films like ‘Cake.’ The star actress found love with Justin Theroux, and they both got married in 2015. Sadly, the couple parted ways in 2017.
